Ethical Issues Faced by Uber



UBER: As we all know that Uber is an American multinational ride- hailing company which offers core services like food delivery and supply vehicles on hire. It was established in March, 2009 by Garrett Camp.




According to New York Times, many UBER drivers are involved in practices of harassment. The reason behind this is often improper background check before hiring of the UBER drivers. Also, there aren't any proper set criteria to become a driver and for the vehicle to be utilized by drivers. Many cases are filled against UBER drivers which involves in unethical practices like harassment and rapes with the passengers. Many other cases are filed against drunk drivers on their ridiculous driving and misbehaving with passengers. Various incidents have occurred:


  • A passenger in Chicago claim an UBER driver of sexually assaulting her.


  • In Jan 2016, another case was filed in Chicago where an UBER driver was arrested for being suspect of kidnapping a drunken passenger then taking her to a hotel for sexual assault.


  • In London, a case had been filed against a UBER driver who sexually harassed a lady.



Uber is additionally facing some issues related to security of Drivers which include beating of drivers and misbehaving with drivers. UBER isn't taking proper actions for the safety of its drivers. Many times, an UBER driver’s vehicle has been damaged by passengers but no proper responsibility has been taken by UBER for the protection of drivers.

Lots of incidents are occured within the past associated with beating of drivers and misbehaving etc. The company have applied various methods to resolve these issues but however didn't find any suitable measure to make sure the safety of their drivers. UBER should take necessary actions for the safety of their drivers and just in case something wrong happens with the drivers, UBER should take strict actions.

As there are many law suits filled over UBER’s passenger safety regarding the number of sexual harassments attempts over the passengers. The authorities in UBER should take an initiative to install a new app that once opened in the time of emergency during any assaults in the transit time that will send calls and messages directly to the police control room or any of relative or the friend of the passengers as a signal of some assaults taking place at that very time.

When employees complete work in a way that is based on honesty and integrity then  the whole organisation benefits. UBER should also hire third party associates so as to verify the driver’s background check. All this can help them to sustain for extended term and to be within the competition.
